Chancey June is an award-winning cinematographer based in the Washington, D.C. area whose work spans documentary, narrative, commercial, and music video. Drawn to stories rooted in humanity, memory, resilience, and connection, she brings a cinematic yet deeply observational approach to visual storytelling, blending vérité intimacy with intentional lighting, texture, and camera movement.
Her path to filmmaking has been curious and nonlinear, shaped by years working as both a writer and humanitarian photographer before fully dedicating herself to cinematography. That background continues to inform her sensitivity to people, environments, and emotionally grounded storytelling.
Her love for filmmaking began in childhood the moment she got her hands on her father’s video camera. What started as backyard productions with neighborhood friends gradually became a calling: a desire to tell meaningful stories with beauty, nuance, and emotional truth.
